The importance of operating room accreditation

A safe, certified operating room has important life-saving devices and safety measures in place, meets or exceeds hospital standards, and follows the highest standards for sterility. For an operating room to earn accreditation, its medical staff must also maintain the highest level of training and experience.

“My post care nurse, office manager and the anesthesiologist were absolutely amazing!”

There are few trusted accreditation organizations that verify an operating room is properly outfitted and meets these standards. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) specifically endorses accreditation from the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Facilities (AAAASF), which is considered to be the gold standard for private operating room certification. City Surgery Center at Kirby Plastic Surgery in Fort Worth is pleased to have earned this esteemed AAAASF accreditation and maintains it yearly. City Surgery Center is the only private plastic surgery center in Fort Worth that has attained this certification.

Our steps for enhancing your recovery

In order to provide her patients with the best possible care from their first consultation to their full recovery, Dr. Kirby and her surgical team have established Kirby Plastic Surgery’s Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols. The ERAS protocols provide individualized specific pain management guidelines for every plastic surgery procedure offered, with an emphasis on improving recovery while reducing narcotic use, and are based on years of first-hand clinical research.

Our Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols

Depending on a patient’s specific needs, this protocol may involve prescribing a combination of controlled or OTC medications and an intraoperative nerve block to help relax the muscles, block nerve pain, and reduce nausea before, during, and after surgery. The injection of numbing medication Dr. Kirby uses during a tummy tuck is called a Transversus Abdominis Plane (TAP) nerve block. It helps patients to help control their pain following surgery. So whether you are restoring your body to its pre-pregnancy beauty with a mommy makeover or enhancing your breasts with a breast augmentation, Dr. Kirby and her team can prescribe a custom pain management system to reduce your surgical stress, optimize your physical functioning, and facilitate your recovery.
