5 Questions About Motiva Breast Implants, Answered

Motiva® breast implants are quickly becoming a popular choice for our Fort Worth breast augmentation patients. Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Emily J. Kirby was one of the first plastic surgeons in the area to offer Motiva implants, and below, she answers five of the most common questions about this advanced implant option.
What is the difference between Motiva Round and Ergonomix implants?
We offer Motiva breast implants in two main shape options to personalize your breast augmentation results:
Motiva Round implants
Round implants maintain their shape in all positions and provide consistent fullness throughout the breast. They are ideal for patients who want:
- Enhanced upper breast fullness in every position
- More pronounced cleavage
- A lifted, perky appearance
Round implants work well for patients seeking breast augmentation after pregnancy or weight loss who want to restore volume in the upper pole of the breast.
Motiva Ergonomix® implants
Ergonomix implants contain a highly viscoelastic gel that responds to gravity and body position, appearing rounder when lying down and forming a natural teardrop shape when standing.
Ergonomix implants are ideal for patients who want:
- A subtle, natural appearance
- Gentle slope with lower pole fullness
- Movement that mimics natural breast tissue
Patients with thin breast tissue or those who want the most natural look possible often prefer Motiva’s Ergonomix breast implants because the softer gel and adaptive shape better replicate natural breast movement and feel.

What are Motiva breast implant profiles?
Beyond shape, Motiva offers different projection levels called “profiles”. The breast implant profile determines how far the implant extends forward from your chest wall:
- Mini: Lowest projection, widest base. Creates subtle enhancement with a natural slope.
- Demi: Moderate-low projection. Balances natural appearance with a noticeable volume increase.
- Full: Moderate-high projection. Provides more forward projection from a narrower base (ideal for narrow chest frames).
The right profile depends on your chest width, natural breast tissue, and desired look. A 400cc implant in Mini profile looks very different from a 400cc Full profile implant, even though they contain the same volume.
What Motiva breast implant sizes are available?
Motiva implants are offered in a comprehensive range of sizes within each profile option, typically from about 105cc to 775cc, with small increments that allow for a fully customized look. During your Fort Worth breast augmentation consultation, Dr. Kirby considers:
- Your chest width and existing breast tissue
- Your body proportions and frame
- Your lifestyle and activity level
- Your aesthetic goals
Rather than relying only on cup size (which varies significantly between bra brands and styles), Dr. Kirby uses precise measurements to determine the implant size and profile that will achieve your desired outcome while maintaining natural-looking proportions.
“Wow, where to start! Dr. Kirby is truly one top notch Dr. of Plastic Surgery. I researched for some time and after meeting her and her staff for a consultation I knew my search was over. My breast augmentation was a complete success and I couldn’t be more happy. Thank all of you for making me feel whole again and the compassion you showed me.”
How do Motiva implants compare to other brands?
Patients often ask how Motiva implants compare to established brands. Here are the key differences:
Lower complication rates
Motiva’s SmoothSilk® surface has been shown in clinical studies to reduce inflammatory response and limit bacterial adhesion for a notably lower risk of breast augmentation complications compared to other leading brands: Motiva implants have some of the lowest reported rates of infection (0.9%), rupture (0.6%), and capsular contracture (0.5%).
Adaptive movement
Motiva implants are specifically designed with next-generation silicone gel technology to change shape with body position, much like natural breast tissue. This makes Motiva implants an especially good option for patients who desire a over-the-muscle (subglandular or subfascial) breast augmentation. There is less tissue to cover the implant with this placement, so the softer and responsive gel allows for a natural look, no matter the placement.

Built-in safety features
The BluSeal® protective layer and optional Q Inside® RFID technology provide additional safety measures not available with most other implant brands.
The main consideration is that Motiva is relatively newer to the U.S. market, having received FDA approval in 2024, though the implants have been used internationally for years with excellent safety records.

Should I switch to Motiva implants?
If you already have breast implants and are happy with your results, there is no medical need to switch implants. Your current implants can remain in place as long as they continue to look and feel good and show no signs of complications.
However, you may want to consider Motiva implants if you:
- Want to change your size, shape, or profile
- Are planning implant replacement due to implant age or wear
- Have experienced complications like capsular contracture or rippling
- Desire the latest safety features and technology
- Prefer more natural movement with Ergonomix® implants
Many patients choose breast implant revision surgery to refresh their look after pregnancy, weight fluctuations, or changes in aesthetic preferences. During a revision consultation, Dr. Kirby evaluates your current implants, discusses your goals, and determines whether switching to Motiva, or another outstanding implant option like Allergan Natrelle Inspira®, will help you achieve the results you want.
